In the early 2000s Gary and Cindy Besaw started buying secondhand snowboard gear at summer tag sales to help students from the local school get equipment for the winter sports program. Whatever gear was leftover, they started selling on ebay. Word spread and their hobby turned into a second job. Before long, they could not meet demand with just used gear anymore, so they started into the wholesale business and rapidly became a full fledged online retail business. Their kids said they were "borderline insane", which is how Boarderline Insanity's name was born. Their basement soon became too small for the task and they upgraded to a 5000 square foot warehouse--now housing over 20,000 items!
